In reverse micelles, enzyme molecules are solubilized
in discrete hydrated micelles formed by surfactants
within a continuous phase i.e. non polar organic solvent.
Under appropriate conditions these solutions are
homogeneous, thermodynamically stable and optically
transparent.
Enzymes in reverse micelles not only retain their
biological activity but also remain stable for a long
period of time under some conditions [4,5]. Many enzymes
have been solubilized into reverse micelles and
all were able to express their activities although very
few were found to be super active
