Career Decisions To address the first part of the second research question, question #9 asked
about students’ beliefs that participation in I-SWEEEP influenced their career decisions. The
data revealed that a little over two thirds of students (n=115, 66.9 %) believed that participation
in I-SWEEEP reinforced their decisions to pursue a career in a STEM-related subject. A
small number of students indicated that I-SWEEEP had changed their decision (n=16, 9.3 %)
or that they were conflicted (n=10, 5.8 %) (see Table 4). The rest of the students (n=31,
18.03 %) reported that participation in the competition did not have any influence on their
career decision.
