A crucial factor in the size and performance of an air
cooling section is the climate of the chosen site. Climatic
variations were simulated, using the model described in De
Lucia et al. (1993), for the purpose of making a comparison
between the three solutions. This model assumes that the
temperature depends on solar radiation and imposes
maximum temperature when solar radiation is at its
highest, and vice versa. Thus the ambient temperature
follows a sinusoidal curve between maximum and
minimum measured temperature values. The amplitude of
this curve depends also on the length of the period of light,
the latitude of the site, and the meteorological day
