Hospital admission should be considered
if symptoms are severe and worsening,
including extensive skin involvement and
marked spread, or systemic signs are evident.
Symptoms may include:
» Unresolving pyrexia;
» Nausea and vomiting;
» Comorbidities that may complicate or
delay healing;
» The very young (children under one
year) and older and frail people;
» Lymphoedema;
» Facial cellulitis;
» Periorbital cellulitis (refer to
ophthalmologist).
