Identifying the research question
The research question was clearly identified in all the papers
with aims to explore aspects of physical, psychological and
sexual functioning of women after vulval surgery noted.
Several studies sought to gain an overall picture of the
postoperative consequences of the surgery (Andersen &
Hacker 1983, Stellman et al. 1984, Corney et al. 1992).
The studies by Tamburini et al. (1986) and Janda et al.
(2004) had similar aims and also sought to assess the effect
on the woman’s quality of life postoperatively.
