The OCP will work towards achieving three main objectives:
1. Every institution will have proper procedures for recruiting staff with the candidate’s suitability for working with and around children taken into prime consideration.
2. Every institution will conduct its daily activities in such a way as to insure the safety of children.
3. Every institution will have a clear process for reporting and investigating any suspicion of child abuse.
The Office of Child Protection will undertake the following types activities in order to work towards these objectives:
1. Policy Development and Implementation
The OCP will assist the CCT to develop an overarching Child Protection and Code of Conduct Policy and be implemented throughout all the CCT ministries.
2. Awareness Raising
The OCP will support a campaign of awareness raising throughout all the CCT ministries.
3. Training
The OCP will train all new staff for child service organizations within the first six
months.
4. Advisory Service
The OCP will provide confidential and reliable advice to institutions and individuals concerning matters of child protection.
5. Capacity Building
The OCP will assist in the appointment and training of a child protection officer for
every CCT institution.
6. Audit and Accreditation Services
The OCP will provide auditing and accreditation services for Child Safe Organization certification.
7. Networking and Enabling Others
The OCP will share its experience and learn from other churches and government and non-government organizations both nationally and internationally. From time to time, the OCP will assist other organizations to improve child protection by assisting in training and awareness raising.
