In Viet Nam, 24.4 percent of parliamentary seats are held by women, and 59.4 percent of adult women have reached at least a secondary level of education compared to 71.2 percent of their male counterparts. For every 100,000 live births, 59.0 women die from pregnancy related causes; and the adolescent birth rate is 29.0 births per 1000 live births. Female participation in the labour market is 72.8 percent compared to 81.9 for men.
