Some people seemed to have a problem with determining the roles of a character in BLEACH,most especially, between Rukia and Orihime.
Rukia was replaced by Orihime,as the new heroine of BLEACH,this is the most intriguing speculations that really caught my attention.I came to wonder, how much KT sucks in his way of writing BLEACH,that made this issue?
Probably, the reason why some people are assuming, that Rukia was replaced by Orihime,as the heroine of BLEACH,is because of KT's words, saying that Orihime is going to play an important role in the future. Then, after his revelations,Orihime became the new rescuee at the HM arc, they thought, she got her own rescue arc (so,she became the new heroine?).
I am going to elaborate Rukia's role at the SS,and Orihime's role at the HM.
Rukia at the SS,plays the role of...
Rukia is the one who changed Ichigo's world, the one who saved him from the hollow's attack (at the beginning of the story),the one who lends her powers to him,so he would be able to protect his family. The one who eased his feelings about his Mom's death. After those series of events, and meaningful interactions between them,Ichigo became so fond of Rukia. When Renji and Byakuya came to arrest her,and he failed to save her,he couldn't help, but become so desperate to save her.
In order to be able to save Rukia,Ichigo trained with Urahara to gain his own shinigami powers. At the SS,he learned a lot of things about the Shinigami's,their laws, their POV's,their personalities, their powers. In order to completely save and protect Rukia from her execution,he found out that he needs to defeat Byakuya, which is one of the strongest Captain in SS,and happens to be Rukia's older brother.Byakuya is supposed to be able to protect her,and is definitely, the one who should be protecting her, instead of supporting her execution. However,in order to be able to defeat him,he needs to gain his bankai, and so he did.Not only that,Rukia played the role,as the catalyst for Ichigo,to stay alive (aside from his nakamas, who came to help him), and win the fights. In short,Rukia plays the role as a "motivator" of Ichigo's character,to become stronger, and the reason that drawn him deeper,in the life of being a shinigami.
On the other hand,Orihime's role,is actually meant for this this...
Orihime's scared expression emphasizes Ichigo's FEAR of having a hollow inside him.Without this scene, one cannot be able to sympathize with Ichigo's emo about having a hollow inside of him.Readers would only see him getting scared of something, that is impossible to happen, and will keep on saying and accusing him for not trusting his friends, and worrying about something that is non existent (though there are still some people who used to think like that ^.^'). But because of this scene,it's proven, that his FEAR really had a reason, and is absolutely possible to happen, right?
Not only that,Orihime's most important role at the HM,is actually...this...
Read here.Orihime's incapability of helping Ichigo,is the thing that caused his hollow to show up,not her cry for HELP,just so you know ^.^
All of Ichigo's nakamas are having their own respective fights, including Rukia.Orihime is the only one who was there, and is supposed to be able to help him.But because of her submissive behavior (especially towards Ichigo),she didn't helped him,and obeyed his order to just stay put,and watch at the sideline.Because Orihime didn't helped him,Ichigo reached the condition of becoming irreparably hurt, which is the time that the hollow said he will show up,and so he did.To make things short,Orihime played the role to emphasize Ichigo's FEAR of having the hollow inside of him,and the catalyst for his HOLLOWFICATION at the Dome, though in a different way from the interpretation of the Ichihime's.Orihime being the catalyst of Ichigo's hollowfication didn't took place when she cried for HELP,it is done through her decision of not helping him, because he said so.
I also wanted to point out, that the rescue parts aren't the main purpose of those arcs. The rescue part, only plays as the catalyst for the main event, that is planned specifically for those arcs.At the SS,Rukia's rescue plays as the catalyst for Ichigo gaining his own shinigami powers and bankai, while Orihime's rescue is the catalyst for Ichigo's hollowfication.Another thing, being a rescuee doesn't make any character to become a hero/heroins in a story, that's so ridiculous.Rukia is the heroine not only at the SS arc,but in the entire story, simply because BLEACH is about Ichigo and her, though it is mostly seen from Ichigo's POV,which is Rukia is the Main Character,if you haven't noticed it yet.
Let's summarize everything...
Rukia played the role of the catalyst for this...
Ichigo gained his OWN shinigami powers.
Ichigo gained his bankai
While Orihime's role,is the catalyst for this...
One thing I want to say about this is,when KT said that Orihime is going to play an important role in the future, that doesn't mean it's going to be,in a POSITIVE way.I'm saying that, because,I'm pretty sure, people are expecting something POSITIVE,and I am talking about,a POSITIVE ROLE,and not a POSITIVE OUTCOME,okay? It's a different thing.People seemed to be confused by those two.KT is talking about her ROLE,and not her CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
Fans, especially,Ichiruki's,Orihime's and Ichihime's are complaining, that KT lied, when he said that Orihime is going to play an IMPORTANT ROLE in the future, because, all they see is NEGATIVE.Always keep in mind,an important role, doesn't always have to be in a positive way.Villains,traitors,etc. are an important role, though it was in a negative way, right?Just because Orihime is one of the Main Characters,it doesn't mean she's not going to have a negative role in the story.Sasuke from NARUTO,is one of the best example, the only thing is,KT didn't do the same thing for Orihime,my only point is,IT can happen.Sasuke's role is important, right? But it was now,in a negative way. So,I'm saying that, when KT said something about an important role, don't assume that it'll be something positive. In fact,KT isn't lying when he said that, since Orihime, did play an important role, didn't she?
