As a result of this [C8C1 im]BF4 having highest viscosity among the BF4 com- pounds reported highest pressure. Similarly the [C6C1 im]TF2N having highest viscosity among the TF2N compounds showed the highest pressure. The (dimensionless) lubricant film pressure behavior within the contact and outside the contact need not necessarily be the same. The film pressure at the inlet side in an EHL contact is governed by the viscosity of the lubricant at the atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the lubricants with higher visc- osity resulted in higher pressures in the inlet zone, which, in turn, resulted in generation of higher film thickness. The lubricant [C8C1 im]PF6 having highest viscosity shows highest film pressure in the inlet zone and also results in highest lubricant film thickness.
