3.1. Identification of Remazol Blue bioaccumulating bacteria from wastewater
Three different colony morphology types were seen on molasses agar plates containing RB. Dye removal yields of these strains were determined at the end of the three days of incubation in the sample shaving about 25 mg/L initial dye concentrations. Table 1 depicts the bioremoval rates of these isolates. Whole cells from an exponentially growing culture of the isolate were used for 16S rRNA gene amplification with 27F and 1390R primers. PCR was carried out by an initial denaturation step at 94◦C for 5 min, followed by 25 cycles of denaturation at 94◦C for 40 s, annealing at 57◦C for 1 min, and elongation at 72◦C for 45 s.
