Finally, application of resin is a well known method for improving the crease recovery performance of cotton
fabrics. However, the crosslinking of cellulose chains because of the application of resin results in loss of
fabric tear strength, which is critical in many applications. The textile finishers have to look for a balance between the
improvement in crease recovery and retention of the fabric strength (6, 11).
Incorporation of softener is known to help in some retention of fabric strength, usually at the cost of crease
recovery performance.
