However, perhaps the most resonant aspect of bookselling as it is currently is the way in which most of the chains have adopted aspects of lifestyle bookselling and how these have become central to what customers now expect of bookshops. Coffee shops and sofas are becoming the norm in chain bookshops now, but it will be interesting to monitor how far bookshops go in adopting more meaningful aspects of true community bookselling as exists in the USA (Miller, 1999).
