This superb performance is causally linked to the
judicious choice of materials and their assembly into defining sandwich nanostructures wherein the
three components closely cooperate with each other in the photoelectrocatalytic reduction of H2O2,
including photo-induced charge separation in CdS, spontaneous electron injection into PB due to its
relatively low Fermi level, and the electrocatalytic reduction of H2O2 by PB via an electrochemical–
chemical–electrochemical reaction mechanism.
