Urinary Zn Excretion in Hypertension 129Table 1Urinary Zinc Excretion in Primary Arterial Hypertension Beforeand After 30 Days of 4 mg Perindopril Treatment per DayNote: Statistically significant differences among control and before treatment patients: *p<0.025; **p<0.003; ***p < 0.001.Statistically significant difference before and after treatment: #p<0.05; ##p<0.01.1 Ave.±SD.2 n=10.At the start of the experiment, blood and 24-h urine samples were obtained 08:00 AM from both groups and were analyzed for zinc by means of a Perkin–Elmer atomic absorption spectrometer model 5000 using a standard laboratory procedure (28). The tests were repeated after the group of patients had been under treatment with 4 mg/d perindopril for1 mo. The zinc content in the participants’ daily food consumption was0.331±0.052 mmol (21.8±3.4 mg/d).The Student’s t-test and Kolmogorow–Smirnow tests were used toevaluate statistical differences for Normal and non-Normal distributions, respectively. The Statistica 51G software for Windows was used for com-parison of the data.RESULTSThe results are given in Table 1 as the average ± SD (standard devia- tion). In the group of patients, an increased level of urinary zinc is seen
