Once a trial ended, a new color for a new trial was presented to the user. Each time, we ensured the user had to travel a predetermined distance from the current page. Participants traverse every possible distance twice for a given condition (2 through N-1, where N is the number of web pages in the condition). For example, if a participant was in the condition with 8 web pages, they traversed 2 through 7 web page distances, traversing each distance twice. The distances to traverse was chosen randomly without replacement from the set, as well as the start positions and colors of the web pages. This was done to mitigate possible learning effects between trials. Procedure
