genetic diseases due to gene mutation
albinism is a hereditary disease characterised by the lack of pigmentation in an organaism. The affected organisms, descibed as albinos, do not have colour in their skin, hair or irises (usually appear pink due to the underlying blood vessels). albinism is the result of a gene mutation that produces a mutant allele. The allele responsible for albinism is recessive to the normal allel. Only individuals carrying two albino allels will be affected by albinism.
