Annona squamosa L. (Annonaceae), commonly known as
sugar apple, is a tree growing in dry climate and has been
widely adopted in Egypt (Morton, 1987). The plant is cultivated
mainly for its edible fruits and is reputed to possess
several medicinal properties (Asolkar et al., 1992). Several
bioactive compounds have been isolated from the leaves
of A. squamosa (Wagner et al., 1980; Seetharaman,
1986).
