In the international literature, Stoner and Milner’s (2010) study of ways of developing “employability skills” in the first year accounting program at a UK university found (as we report later here) that students had “difficulty in managing their time [and] in engaging in problem solving” (p.135). We agree with Stoner and Milner (2010, p.136) that strategies to develop relevant skills (such as critical thinking) should take place “across the whole degree experiences.”
