Three, there is a new term mentioned by the Minister of Culture of Vietnam at a meeting in Hanoi some time ago. At a certain point at the meeting, the Vietnamese minister mentioned the word “ASEAN culture.” That would mean that while individual nations would retain their culture, they could and likely would also develop some common culture characteristic of ASEAN. Hence an ASEAN culture may be born as tome progresses and as interactions among the peoples of the regional organization has intensified. A certain sets of integrative cultures derived from a combination of member nations in the areas of arts, music, dances, food dresses, etc., could be developed to have a unique identity. This duality of the native culture and regional culture will one day emerge.
