4.1. Improved protection and water quality
The Xixi wetland is mostly (70%) covered with water. Water
resources are an essential component of the ecological resources of wetlands and support the existence of aquatic animals (Bu & Lu,
2009). Although the local government has made efforts to
improve the quality of the water, the water pollution in the Xixi
wetland is relatively serious because of the long-term pollution
created by industry, agriculture and shipping. It is important to
control the sources of the pollution and to reduce the inflow of
sewage water into scenic areas. However, it is also important to
strengthen the system used to regulate the water quality, taking
into account the dynamic nature of water quality and acting
accordingly.
