To help organize and frame this exploration, we propose a basic model depicting the proposed emergence and
consequences of discrete positive emotions (Figures 1 and 2). This model is roughly based on the one presented by Ashkanasy (2003, Figure 6) and on affective events theory (AET; Weiss & Cropanzano, 1996). Borrowing from these
two frameworks allowed us to build a model meant to capture the phenomenology of particular discrete emotional experiences
(i.e., in terms of their emergence and consequences) and also to depict the proposed temporal and multilevel nature
of these effects. As such, the model serves as both an organizing framework and also an integration and of extension of
established models that accounts for the distinctive emergence and influences of discrete positive emotions.
