Fig. 2 shows the frequencies of hedonic rating classes for overall impressions
(class 1: ratings from 1 to 5 and class 2: ratings from 6 to 9) for
the control strawberry sample (a) and for the strawberry sample irradiated
at a dose of 3.6 kGy (b).
As expected, the frequency of hedonic rating classes of the control
strawberry did not undergo significant changes between the sessions.
However, the frequency of hedonic ratings between 6 and 9 for the
irradiated strawberry substantially increased from session 2 to session
3. This result suggests that providing an explanatory text on the irradiation
process increased the acceptance of the irradiated strawberry
