Police announced the arrest of two people after 400,000 methamphetamine pills and a small amount of heroin was found hidden inside a six wheel truck and Toyota Fortuner at 4:30 a.m. on January 11, 2016.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Tanitsak Teerasawat, Region 5 Commander, said that the police had stopped the men in the vehicles at a checkpoint in Mae Lao, Chiang Rai and decided to search the vehicles after they behaved suspiciously. After police uncovered the drugs they placed Jongjai Duangdee and Orawan Srisawat under arrest on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Police will investigate further to uncover the drug trafficking ring behind the smuggling attempt.
