The field experiment was carried out at the Agroecological
Centre of the Agricultural University in Plovdiv, Bulgaria,
a holder of an ecological farm certificate. The experiment
4 Pepper growth and yield
was carried out on the ‛Buketen 50’ pepper cultivar,
which is intended for the production of red pepper for
grinding. The seedlings were produced in a polythene
greenhouse, upon cold seedbeds with tunnel covers
above them. Thick seedlings were produced under the
sowing norm of 12-15 g m-2. The seedlings were planted
in a permanent place at the beginning of June, after
a durable increase in the soil temperature to over 16°C,
on a profiled surface in the form of long furrows, with
the planting scheme 60 × 15 cm.
