c) in the form of materials and supplies to be consumed in such process of such production or manufacture.
12’000 RAW MATERIALS
This category is only relevant at Metrohm’s production sites. Raw materials stock is the total value of all of the raw
materials currently in stock which have not entered work-in-process or finished goods production yet. It includes
changes in stock and value adjustments.
12’100 WORK IN PROGRESS
Work in progress is mostly relevant at Metrohm’s production sites. It’s defined as material that has entered into the
production process but is not yet a finished product. Work in progress (WIP) therefore refers to all materials and partly
finished products that are at various stages of the production process. WIP excludes inventory of raw materials at the
start of the production cycle and finished products inventory at the end of the production cycle.
12’200-12’800 INVENTORY FINISHED GOODS
Finished goods are goods that have been completed by the manufacturing process or purchased in a completed form.
The inventory value includes all of the costs necessary to get the inventory items in place and ready for sale. Excluded
are the costs of selling and administration. Purchase cost comprise purchase price including landed costs (incidental
charges such as for transportation, freight, unloading, duties, provisions etc.) less purchase price reductions (e.g.
rebates, refunds etc.). Early payment or settlement discounts (in the sense of deduction for a quick payment) are dealt
with as purchase price reduction (usually directly recognized as net reduced purchase price). Products which are
delivered to a (related) company for further assembling are also defined as finished goods (for example Applikon or NIR
online products).
