Communication with Family & Friends. Megan was an exchange student & understands what it is like to live far from home & miss family & friends. From our experience, it is best to pick 1 day per week to talk with family & friends via phone or skype (especially during the first couple of months). Talking more than once per week can actually make it more difficult & lead to homesickness.
The quicker you bond with our family, the easier your transition to life in America will be.
Early Mornings. Our au pair helps get the children ready for school at 7:00am Monday through Friday. This is typical for most families with an au pair. If your prefer to sleep late in the morning, being an au pair might be difficult for you. While we do not have a curfew for our au pair we would like our au pair to be well rested & get 8 hours of sleep before duty time. This would mean being home around 11pm on weeknights, Sunday-Thursday. This shows us your respect for our family & dedication to the au pair job
