Apart from the great number of advantages this method
has, several criteria need to be completed in order to
achieve a broad applicability of the Brine Shrimp Assay.
This includes the following:
- Standardized experimental conditions in the
means of temperature, salinity, aeration, light and
pH,
- Same geographical region of the cysts,
- Same age of Artemia nauplii at the start of every
test,
- Positive and negative controls are essential part
of the assay, in order to check the sensitivity of
the larvae and the conformity with the standard
procedure (Vanhaecke et al., 1981).
