1. 4G networks could cut thousands off from TV coverage With the digital switchover, all TV signals in the UK are now delivered digitally over the 700MHz spectrum to allow the 800MHz service to be used for 4G networks. While this is great for bringing 4G to the masses, it will also cause problems by 4G networks interfering with TV signals delivered to almost one million citizens. This is because interference from the mobile networks could bleed into the TV spectrum and cause thousands of homes to lose their connections, forcing them to buy new aerials or blockers to counter this effect. The government expects it would cost £180m to counter this issue, mostly to be covered by operators, but it's highly likely many will not be upgraded in time, leaving them TV-less, and can you imagine anything worse than that?
