in LP is likely to be a consequence of the low dietary P
challenge the cows were encountering in early lactation. In
a study by Elizondo Salazar et al. (2012) results showed
that P balance was negative in early lactation and
decreased when dietary P reduced when cows were fed
dietary P concentrations in the range 2.9 to 3.6 g P/kg DM.
Moreover, most of the P lost during mobilization was
retained at the end of lactation irrespective of treatment
in that study. The results on bone resorption marker in the
study by Elizondo Salazar et al. (2012) were consistent
with the findings of the present experiment since serum
pyridinoline increased significantly in early lactation
