An author always has a pointof view, a position from which he or she sees what is going on in the story. In newpaper and magazine articles, the author's point of view is often, but not always, neutral. That is, the writer does not openly express an opinion, but tries to share the points of view of other people. This allows readers to see what is going on from several angles and then draw their own conclusions. In some cases, however, such as blogs, the writer often does express personal ideas and thoughts.
