Fig. 6 shows SEM micrographs of the impact-fractured surfaces
of the samples, which formed during Charpy impact tests at
room temperature. From the images, we can see that pure PLA is
brittle fractured, while the 5 wt% ENR20/PLA and ENR50/PLA
blends present some domains with elongated rubber. The 20 wt%
ENR20/PLA and ENR50/PLA blends possess a somewhat flocculated
morphology. It is worth noting that there are no large voids presented
in the blends, indicating that rubber particles were not
pulled out of the PLA matrix during fracture process. In other
words, epoxidized natural rubber is well compatible with PLA,
and the blends are ductile ruptured
