These challenges became a reality for
Apple Valley Creamery.
“We went through a period of several
months where we were spending a
tremendous amount of time fixing our
trucks,” Everett says. “Our reefer unit kept
breaking down and we had to keep taking
it back to the mechanic which was about
45 minutes away. We had tremendous
downtime with the trucks, tremendous
labor costs with running the trucks back
and forth, and the maintenance bills were
much higher than what we expected.”
Looking for a solution to their
transportation problems, Everett explored
the possibility of outsourcing, contacting
a few transportation providers including
Ryder. About three weeks later, Apple
Valley Creamery signed an agreement,
