For the large scale production of nanofibers, electrospinning
from aqueous solutions is desirable from an environmental point
of view. It has been recognized that although gelatin can be easily
dissolved in water, but the gelatin/water solution was unable
to be electrospun into ultra fine fibers at room temperature due
to the hydrogen bonding interaction. At present, gelatin has been
electrospun into nanofibers utilizing organic solvents, such as hexafluoroisopropanol
trifluoroacetic acid
