Breakfast Table:
It is said that eating a good breakfast will help to start your day off in the right direction. So, when planning a special brunch or breakfast occasion, whether it be formal or informal, here are some guidelines to help you make the most important meal of the day a success!
Starting from left to right, we have the bread & butter plate along with a butter spreader knife. This is perfect for buttered toast or muffin. The ever-important napkin can be a neatly folded cloth or quality paper version. Feel free to get creative with your folded napkin shape or just use an appropriate napkin ring. If you have a luncheon and dinner fork in your flatware set, then your lunch size would be more appropriate for a breakfast, but if not, then your dinner/place fork will do just fine! A luncheon plate is also a great size for breakfast, but the larger dinner plate will work just as well. The cereal bowl can be for a cold or hot cereal, fruit, or even grits. A standard dinner/place knife followed by a teaspoon (or the larger place/oval soup spoon if you so wish!) makes up the right side of the flatware located directly beside the plate. Next we have a cup and saucer for tea or coffee and a teaspoon for stirring. It is perfectly acceptable to use a mug instead of a traditional cup and saucer set if you would like. Some people prefer the size of a standard or latte mug much better than the dainty cup & saucer set. And lastly, we have your glassware for your juice, milk, or water. These can be footed stems or flat bottom pieces. A flat high-ball type tumbler for your water or milk and a smaller old-fashioned glass for your juice works great if you do not have the smaller juice glasses. Or if you prefer stemmed pieces, you may use a water goblet and then a wine glass for your juice of choice!
