All participants were volunteers enrolled in 3
schools in 1 southern Indiana school district during
the 2010 to 2011 school year. The sole inclusion
criterion was enrollment in 1 of 6, 3rd or 4th grade
classes of participating elementary schools. Participants
were not randomized to Energize or control conditions;
rather, the entire class of a teacher who volunteered
to participate was involved in the intervention. The
3 participating schools each contained 1 Energize
classroom and 1 control classroom.
