In this work the possible biochemical and toxicological
effects of occupational and dietary exposure
of humans to cyanide poisoning from large-scale cassava
processing and ingestion of cassava-based foods is
reported. In conclusion, since millions of Nigerians and
many other people consume cassava roots and their products
frequently and in large quantities, detailed investigation
into the overall human health effects of cyanide
poisoning as a result of large-scale cassava processing and
ingestion of cassava-based foods needs to be carried out.
