Participants were guaranteed anonymity and supplied with prepaid envelopes in which to return their questionnaires.
The sample of 433 was considered representative and comprised individuals working across the full range of
curriculum areas. Participants’ job titles range from ‘Learning Support’ to ‘Chief Executive’. Eighty-three percent of respondents are lecturers and 13% managers. The remaining 4% of participants are categorized as ‘Functional or Technical Support’. There is relatively equal representation of males (47.6%) and females (52.2%) and 90.5% of participants are permanent staff with 80.4% employed full-time, and 7.6% employed on fixed-term contracts. Table 1 reports the means, standard deviations, and zero-order correlations amongst study variables.
