The 0.2g acceleration ([1]) was recorded at Maesai,
Chiengrai. The accelerometer station is located 30 km from
the earthquake epicenter. The measured acceleration fitted
well with the selected attenuation relationship
recommended by [2] (Fig 2). Since Maesai’s subsoil consists
of loose to medium dense layer of sand, therefore the
liquefaction has been observed (Fig 3).
Luckily, most of the liquefied sites are located outside
Maesai city therefore the damage was then minimized. This
liquefaction phenomenon is recorded to be the first
liquefaction ever witness in the modern time of Thailand.
