The NTTL provides a wide range of information for individual
tractors as PTO (Power Take Off) performance,
drawbar performance, maximum sound level, three point
hitch, hydraulic flow, etc. [16]. Standardized tractor test
codes specify power and fuel consumption measurements
at rated engine speed, standard PTO speed (either 540 or
1000 RPM) and at engine speed and load conditions that
produce maximum PTO power [3]. PTO performance tests
are conducted with a dynamometer attached to the tractor
PTO. The power at the PTO is calculated from the PTO torque
and the PTO speed. Drawbar-performance tests are
accomplished in all gears between a lower gear below
the one which provided maximum drawbar force (without
exceeding a wheel slip of 15%) and a maximum speed of
10 miles per hour engine-speed, wheel-slip, and fuelconsumption
data are recorded when test conditions are
stabilized. Drawbar tests are also conducted with partial
loads at 75% and 50% of the maximum drawbar load (at
rated engine speed). These partial-load tests are also conducted
at reduced engine speeds. Drawbar power is calculated
from the drawbar pull (or draft) and the tractor
forward speed. Fuel consumption which has been known
as the energy efficiency of a tractor is measured by the
amount of fuel used during a specific time period [14].
