n waste molding sands (both green and chemically bonded sands) from ferrous and non-ferrous foundries.
Of the 43 waste molding sands characterized in this study,
the vast majority (i.e. 74%) were ferrous green sands, which
is a percentage representative of the industry. The data presented in this manuscript are part of a larger study being con-
ducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural
Research Service (USDA-ARS) to assess the environmental
safety of using foundry sands in manufactured soils. A total
elemental analysis of each sand was conducted, along with
the determination o
