The cold water storage tank is the final primary destination
for the mains water supply. This tank provides storage for
the majority of the water users on site, collectively termed
process and utilities users. Water from the tank is pressurised
by means of a booster pump set. The primary destination
for this system is the main production building. Within this
building, the water undergoes several different treatments
and is used for various purposes. Included in these are the
sites deionised water (DIW) generation units, which purify
the water to a standard suitable for sanitary applications.
Also within the building, there are sometimes electrically
operated local heaters for the DIW, when used to fill productwashing
baths. Other uses for water within the building
include machine cooling and floor washing.
