PHNOM PENH - Cambodia has forecast seven million tourists by the year 2020 with one million jobs to be created.
The forecast was disclosed by Tourism Minister Thong Khon at the congratulatory ceremony on "Cambodia as World Best Tourist Destination for 2016" Award and official launching of the "First Best Hospitality Contest" at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
"We have forecast for 2020 the number of tourists reaching 7 million, generating revenue of about US$5 billion (Bt176 billion), with one-million jobs created," he said.
Last year, Cambodia attracted 4.8 million foreign visitors and generated some $3 billion with 620,000 jobs estimated to have been created.
