Results on carotenoids concentration obtained for each of treatments using the Plackett–Burman design(Fig. 1), sug-
gested that the higher concentrations are obtained with treatments 6 and 8,with 340 and 323 mg/l,respectively.
Bhosale andGadre(2000a) used various mutants of R. glutinis and reached a concentration of 33 mg/l of total carotenoids
production.Furthermore, Nasrabadi andRazavi(2011) reported a concentration of 267 mg/l of carotenoids produced
by R. acheniorum. The sevariations in production may be due to the different strains used and the type of fermentation.
