According to the provisional regulation issued in 1987, the primary duties of a tour guide include: accept guiding tasks assigned by travel agencies; arrange and organize the tour in accordance with the itinerary; guide the tourists, and explain Thai cultures to them; coordinate and supervise the tourists' transportation, food and lodging; ensure personal and property safety of the tourists among other matters; report the suggestions and demands of tourists, help arrange meetings and informal discussions among other activities; and answer tourists' enquiries and help handle problems and emergencies en route.
