(Table 3). Again, in undisturbed soil profiles, they significantly
decreased with increasing depth, whereas in disturbed soil profiles
they did not change up to 80 cm depth while decreased in the two
deepest layers, except for phosphatase which did not change with
depth. All absolute enzyme activities in upper horizons of
undisturbed soil profiles were higher than in disturbed soil
profiles, especially for enzymes linked to C and S cycles (about
eight times). On the other hand, the specific enzymes activities, i.e.
calculated on TOC mass basis, generally did not show significant
differences (P < 0.05) either between disturbed and undisturbed
soil profiles or throughout depth within the soil profiles, except for
