We also hypothesized that CPM may be helpful with
initializing knee bending so that further active and
passive motion training becomes easier and patient
tolerates exercises better. To evaluate this, we included
the 1-day-CPM application group where CPM was given
only for the 1 day when knee ROM exercises were
initiated. Hence, we evaluated 3 groups after primary
TKA: the control group with no CPM, the 1-day-CPM group with CPM application only on day 2 after TKA,
and the 3-day-CPM group with CPM application for 3
days after TKA. Besides TUG test scores, the parameters
we studied were knee ROM, pain on visual analog scale
(VAS), swelling, wound complications, and WOMAC
and SF-12 scores.
