Monsters worden met een automatisch geregelde, minimale hoeveelheid zuurstof, bij de aanwezigheid van een ‘intelligente’ katalysator verbrand. De gevormde stikstofoxiden worden vervolgens met koper gereduceerd tot stikstof,
waarbij als draaggas helium wordt gebruikt. De detectie van het stikstof geschiedt via een innovatieve geleidbaarheidscel, die geen
referentie gasstroom nodig heeft, waardoor dagelijkse kalibraties niet nodig zijn. De besturing en berekening wordt via de
meegeleverde Dumatherm Manager software verzorgd. Automatische monsterinvoer kan direct via een balans of via het geïntegreerde programma voor overname uit b.v. een LIMS systeem geschieden. Alle parameters van de apparatuur zijn continue in het scherm zichtbaar
en worden automatisch gedocumenteerd. De kalibratie van de analyse kan met gewone chemicaliënstandaards worden uitgevoerd. Met de stikstofconcentratie kan het gehalte aan eiwit op proteïnen worden berekend. Nitrogen determination system
