Triumph proves you don’t have to hunt the classifieds for a classic to enjoy a classic, with its Scrambler ($9099). Like the original TR6, the British bike employs Triumph’s signature Parallel Twin configuration with 865cc of air-cooled displacement. The Scrambler’s shotgun-styled exhaust, wide dirt bike-like handlebar and faux carburetors make this Triumph look old, but feel new.
The Triumph is a great reminder not to judge a book by its cover. The vintage styling is great, fit and finish are top-notch, but we were preparing ourselves for a much less agile machine when the test started. At 507 pounds, the Triumph is the only bike among the three to exceed 500 pounds, carrying almost 100 pounds more than the comparatively lithe Ducati. But on the road it carries the extra heft surprisingly well.
