Conclusion
Overall, the first CNL specialty course was considered a success by students and faculty. It was a great benefit to this process to have a small group of very expert nurses who freely shared their feelings, reflections, and constructive feedback. Faculty and students worked collaboratively to work through the course and make adjustments as needed. The three key active learning experiences described in this article continue to be key components of the course. Clearly, the faculty will seek to continuously improve the course from year to year.
