Thanks to Mycroft pulling a lot of strings, the wedding was on. There were conditions, however. There were only a few witnesses, security was everywhere, and it would just be the ceremony, no reception. It may not have been the perfect wedding for some, but for you, considering the circumstances, it was all you needed.
The people you were able to invite were your closest companions. John, the best man, (sibling/friend) was your maid of honor, Lestrade, Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, Molly, and Mary.
“I think we’re ready,” said your (sibling/friend), who was helping with John to make sure everything was in place before the ceremony would begin.
The church it was taking place in was small, with a few candles lit. The minister waited at the alter as Sherlock took his place, a guard close by him (one of the conditions). Everyone took their seats as they patiently waited for the ceremony to begin.
A guard was kind enough to hit the play button on the ipod player. As the music played, John and your maid of honor walked down the aisle together. As soon as they took their spot, you walked in. Just like you had stated, you weren’t wearing a fancy white dress with an expensive bouquet. Rather, you walked in with your faded jeans, a black sweater, and sneakers. In your hand was a bouquet you bought from Tesco’s.
Everyone rose as you walked in. Despite the casual tone of everything and you wearing clothes you wore every day, as soon as Sherlock saw you, his eyes lit up in a way that showed that he felt he was looking at the most beautiful person in the world.
You gave your bouquet to your maid of honor before facing Sherlock and taking his hands. The minister spoke as soon as the music was stopped.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the joining of Sherlock Holmes and (full name) in holy matrimony. If anyone here believes that these two should not be married, and I quote from their friends, ‘Get out because these two are going to get married.’”
There were a few chuckles and smiles at the statement before the minister continued.
“For us, the bride and groom have prepared for their own vows. (name), will you please begin?”
You smiled and took a deep breathe to begin.
“William Sherlock Scott Holmes, since the day I met you, people have said many things about you. That you were arrogant, weird, and crazy. Some say even psychotic. But I see you differently. I see you as extremely intelligent, not afraid to speak your mind, and the most unique person I have ever met. But those aren’t the only things I see in you.
“I see you as a wonderful man who loves deeply in his own quiet way. I know that you only do what you believe to be right. And while you may say you are not a hero, I believe that you are with all the sacrifices you’ve made, the strength you have in dark times, and the deep love you have for those close to you. There is no one else who take your place in my heart. I love you with all my heart and being.”
With that, you slipped the silver band onto Sherlock’s ring finger. Sherlock’s face during your vows was one of complete awe and love. He almost looked like he was tearing up, but looked down at your connected hands before you could get a good look. He cleared his throat before looked up and spoke.
“(full name), when I first met you, I didn’t think much of you, if I was being honest. But as I worked with you, my interest in you grew. You were beautiful, kind, and understood me when not many others seem to. You once told me that you thought it was a miracle that I love you. But the true miracle is you loving me.
